With over 18 years experience in documentaries, script-writing, film and television, Shahla has produced and directed several independent documentaries, current affairs programs and series for television as well as for independent and government agencies. She started her career as AD on a feature film with Muzaffar Ali after which she worked with Vinod Dua on a video newsmagazine. After studying film and television in the US where she made films for the PBS and worked on independent fiction films, she returned to India where she worked as Producer at NDTV, TV Today and Miditech . Apart from working on television and documentary films, Shahla also writes on gender and cinema and teaches film and television as guest lecturer at the SNDT University.
