Yasmin Kidwai founded Spring Box Films in 1998. With over 10 years experience in the television and film-making industry, Yasmin has produced and/or directed over 20 documentaries related to issues such as women’s empowerment, women’s reservation, old age issues and tourism. She has also worked extensively with government agencies and NGOs across India. In the course of her work, Yasmin has crossed rivers on the backs of dacoits, drank water with snakes floating in it, gotten hypnotized and spent days chasing tigers in the jungle. Before making films she was interviewing Bollywood film stars for a magazine.
Prior to Spring Box she has worked with BITV, NDTV and Simi Garewal Productions. After her BA in Sociology (Honors), Hindu College Delhi University, Yasmin did her post graduation in PR and Journalism following it up with Film and Television Production from the Xavier Institute of Communications, Mumbai.
Today besides her film company, Yasmin is on the Governing body of two prestigious women’s colleges in New Delhi-Kamla Nehru College, and Gargi College. She is also the Treasurer of Kamla Nehru College.
